Food Chemicals

Food chemicals covers the materials that go into a food or confectionery product rather than the machines that make it. In this section that means food-grade styrene butadiene rubber grades and chewing gum base, supplied to confectionery manufacturers, food-contact processors and ingredient traders who need a consistent input and the paperwork to go with it.

WUXI HASEN IMPORT AND EXPORT CO., LTD supplies these materials as an export partner working with production plants in China. We are not a machine tool builder and we are not the chemical producer: our role is to define the grade you actually need, source it from the plant that makes it, verify the batch documentation, and handle the packing, shipping and export paperwork so the consignment arrives usable and traceable.

What this category covers

Buyers reach this range for two related needs: a food-grade elastomer to use as an input, and a finished gum base to compound into chewing gum. Both are supplied as solid materials in cartons or sheets, and both depend on documentation as much as on the material itself.

  • Food-grade styrene butadiene rubber - the elastomer grades used as the base polymer in chewing gum base and in certain food-contact applications.
  • Chewing gum base - the masticatory base supplied to confectionery producers, which they then compound with sweeteners, flavours and softeners.
  • Sheet and bubble gum base - base grades aimed at the two main chewing gum product families.

Food-grade styrene butadiene rubber

Styrene butadiene rubber is a copolymer of styrene and butadiene. Food grades are produced and handled to a specification intended for chewing gum base and food-contact use, which means the emphasis is on consistent properties and on controlling what the material comes into contact with during production and packing, not on the mechanical properties a tyre or industrial rubber compound would be judged on.

Because the same generic material name covers a wide range of grades, the useful question is never simply whether a supplier can offer "SBR". It is which grade, produced to which specification, supplied with which batch documentation, and how consistently the next delivery matches the last one.

Chewing gum base

Gum base is the water-insoluble, masticatory part of a chewing gum formula. It gives the product its chew, and the soluble part that the consumer tastes is added afterwards by the confectionery producer: sweeteners, flavours, colours and softeners are all compounded into the base at their end, not by the base supplier.

That division matters when specifying. Taste, colour and shape are the confectionery producer's decisions, and the base is chosen for how it processes and how it chews. A base that suits a coated pellet is not automatically the right base for a centre-filled or a stick product, even though both are supplied as solid material in cartons.

Grade selection and what to compare

Two suppliers can quote the same product name and deliver materials that behave differently. The comparison that actually protects a buyer looks at:

  • Grade identity - the producer's own grade code, not a generic description.
  • Batch-to-batch consistency - the property that decides whether your compounding line runs unchanged or needs re-setting on every delivery.
  • Documentation - the technical data and the certificate of analysis that travels with the actual batch, not a generic specification sheet.
  • Packing and shelf life - carton weight, pallet configuration and the storage conditions the material is designed for.
  • Traceability - whether the batch on the label can be traced back to a production record.

Documentation and traceability

For food-contact materials, documentation is part of the product. We supply the technical data sheet and the batch certificate of analysis with the shipment, and we keep the batch reference so a later question can be answered against the same record. Where a buyer's own market requires specific declarations or compliance statements, tell us the requirement before the order is placed rather than after the container has sailed, because not every declaration can be issued retrospectively.

We do not issue declarations we cannot support from the producer's documentation, and we will say plainly when a requested statement is not available.

Packing, storage and shipping

These materials are supplied in cartons and pallets and are sensitive to heat, direct sunlight and contamination during storage. Container loading matters more than it looks: a carton stack that shifts in transit damages the material even though the outer packaging appears intact. We specify the packing configuration, confirm the container loading plan, and provide the shipping documents your customs broker asks for, prepared to match the actual shipment.

For buyers who also purchase machinery or spare parts from us, food-grade materials and equipment can be consolidated into one consignment where the shipping plan allows, which reduces freight and clearance cost.

How we work with you as a supplier

Our contribution is on the specification, sourcing, documentation and logistics side of the transaction:

  • Requirement definition - we start from your application, processing route and the declarations your market requires.
  • Grade matching - we work from the grade code and documentation you already use, so a replacement matches the input your line was set up for.
  • Batch verification - certificate of analysis checked against the batch actually shipped.
  • Documentation - packing lists, invoices and shipping papers prepared to match the consignment.
  • Consolidated shipping - materials and equipment combined into one shipment where the plan allows.
  • Continuity - a route back to the same grade and the same production source for the next order.

Frequently asked questions

Can you supply small quantities to sample before ordering?
Yes, small quantities for evaluation are normal business for us. Tell us what the sample has to prove and we will confirm what the producer can provide.

Do you supply the material or only trade it?
We are a supplier and export partner working with production plants in China. We do not manufacture the material, and we will always tell you which plant a grade comes from at the point where that matters.

Which documentation comes with a shipment?
The technical data sheet and the batch certificate of analysis, alongside the commercial and shipping documents. Additional declarations depend on what the producer can support, so raise the requirement before the order is placed.

Can you keep the same grade and source for repeat orders?
That is the point of the relationship. Grade continuity is what keeps a compounding line stable, and we treat a change of source as a decision to be raised with you, not a detail to be absorbed silently.

Talk to us about your material requirement

Send us the grade code you currently use, the application and the declarations your market requires. We will come back with what is available, what the documentation covers and the questions that still need answers before a quotation is meaningful.
